In respect to the approach it is a qualitative research. To start, we assume that</div><div>there is a dynamic relationship between language, education and Afro-Brazilian culture, in wich the objective</div><div>world and the subjectivities can’t be translated only in numbers. Also, we didn’t create situations for</div><div>experiments, but adopted the natural conditions of the schools as a direct source to data collection. This</div><div>perspective, therefore, assumed the heterogeneity of actions and resources used to collect data, requiring the</div><div>application of complementary instruments of the Sociolinguistics: participant observation, semi-structured faceto-face interviews or taped ones, recorded statements, informal discussions and questionnaires with open and</div><div>multiple choice questions, applied in five distinct and complementary steps. The subjects are students, teachers</div><div>and administrators of public schools of the city of Vilhena. The field research was conducted in 2008.</div><div><br /></div><div>Keywords. Education.
