Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • The contribution is original and unpublished, and is not being evaluated for publication by another journal; otherwise, you must be justified in "Comments to the Editor".
  • The files for submission are in Microsoft Word, OpenOffice or RTF format (as long as they do not exceed 2MB).
  • URLs for references were provided when necessary.
  • The text is in single space; uses a 12-point font; uses italics instead of underlining (except URL addresses); figures and tables are inserted in the text, not at the end of the document, as attachments.
  • The text follows the style standards and bibliographic requirements described in Instructions for Authors, in the section About the Journal.
  • The authorship identification of the work was removed from the file and from the Properties option in Word, thus guaranteeing the journal's confidentiality criterion, if submitted for peer review (ex.: articles), according to instructions available in Evaluation Process By Peer.

Author Guidelines

The Revista Presença Geográfica publishes scientific articles, experiments, literature reviews, reviews or scientific original notes, unpublished and relevant, which can be in portuguese, english, french and spanish that contribute to local issues, regional, national and international, in contexts that cover geographic themes.

     1.   The articles must be submitted electronically, typed in a Word-compatible format, in portuguese, english, french or spanish, on a 18.5 x 26.5 cm sheet with 2.00 cm top, bottom, left and right margins, Times New Roman 12 font, single spaced, with a maximum number of 20 (twenty) pages, including tables, graphs, illustrations, annexes and appendices (when there's).

    2.   The articles must contain Title, Abstract (maximum 250 words) and Keywords (of 3 to 5 words separated by semicolons) in the original language and translated in portuguese and english, if these are not the original language, in addition to Introduction, Final Considerations or Conclusion and Bibliographic References. The internal subdivision of the text is at the discretion of the authors. Notes and reviews must also contain abstract in portuguese e english.

     3.   The citations of the references in the text, as well as the Bibliographic References must be presented in accordance with the ABNT rules.

     4.    The tables and charts should be numbered with Arabic numerals and a heading at the top.

     5.    Drawings, graphs, maps and photographs should be called Figures and be in JPG format, with the order number in Arabic numerals and the titlein its lower part. Figures from tables and charts will not be accepted.

      6.     At the discretion of the editors, works that do not fit in the Geography area will be returned to the author (s), without going through the editorial process.

     7.  The concepts and statements contained in the articles will be the sole responsibility of the author (s), but the Editorial Board reserves the right to suggest changes.

     8. The article will be submitted to the Advisory Council of the Journal (peer review and approval), which will accept or not the publication.Each article will be sent to two reviewers with recognized competence in the topic addressed, at least one linked to an external institution. In case of disagreement, the original will be sent for a third evaluation.The peer review process is a confidential procedure regarding the identity of both the authors and the reviewers, so that the authors should use all possible means to avoid identifying the authorship of the submitted article.The final decision on whether or not to publish the manuscript is always with the editors, who are entitled to make any adjustments they deem necessary.In the detection of writing problems and/or plagiarism, identified with the support of the CopySpider and Plagius software, according to the RPGeo ethics policy, the manuscript will be returned to the authors for the necessary changes.The reformulated work must return within the maximum period determined in the communication between editor and author.
