The growth of agricultural activities directly influences the balance of water resources. The state of Rondônia has an important contribution to the country's economy, standing out in cattle raising. This is an eminent concern, as the growth of this sector stimulates the contribution of industries that benefit from sub-products related to culture. Knowing this, the main objective of this work is to characterize the physical-chemical parameters of points close to a leather processing industry in a stretch of the Machado River. Collections took place quarterly, from September/2019 to March/2020. Adopting recommendations from the National Guide for the Collection and Preservation of Samples prepared by the ANA and methods of the APHA. The results were compared with current CONAMA Resolutions nº 357/2005, which provides for the National Policy on Water Resources and nº 470/2011, which provides for the conditions and standards for the release of liquid effluents. The average found for DO, temperature and pH were 5,89 mg/L, 27.7 °C and 6,25 respectively. The series of nitrogen and total phosphorus also remained within expectations according to the legislation for Class I waters. It is deduced that the water quality at the site of this study is suitable for abstraction and/or acceptable for aquatic life, where all parameters are in line with the current Resolutions.
