Ongoing Call for Papers – Afros & Amazônicos Journal

17/04/2025

The Afros & Amazônicos Journal, a biannual open-access publication, invites researchers to submit scientific articles, reviews, and historical documents for its upcoming issues. Maintained by the Interdisciplinary Afro-Amazonian Studies and Research Group (GEPIAA), the journal is linked to the Graduate Program in Amazonian History (PPGHAm) and the Graduate Program in Human Rights and Justice (DHJUS) at the Federal University of Rondônia (UNIR).

With the mission of promoting scientific dissemination and interdisciplinary debate, Afros & Amazônicos publishes original works in History and related fields, focusing on Afro-Amazonian and Indigenous populations. The journal welcomes articles authored by PhDs or master’s degree holders and—exceptionally—articles by master’s students in co-authorship with qualified researchers. For reviews and historical documents, no minimum degree is required.

Main topics of interest:

  • Studies on Afro-Amazonian populations, addressing ethnicity, territoriality, sustainability, education, health, and culture;
  • Interdisciplinary research on Indigenous peoples in the Amazon, emphasizing orality and ethnography as historical sources;
  • Debates on domination, resistance, racism, gender, social quotas, diversity, religious practices, and cultural issues in the Amazonian context;
  • Historical documents and other forms of social, cultural, ethnic, and historical representations related to the Amazon.

Afros & Amazônicos aims to be a plural and inclusive academic space dedicated to amplifying the voices and histories of Amazonian populations. Submissions must follow the guidelines available on the journal’s website.

Join this initiative and contribute to strengthening research and scientific dialogue on the Amazon and its diversities!
