The Permanent Preservation Areas - APPs are important environments for the maintenance of environmental balance, however, they tend to be highly impacted by human action, so it is essential to monitor and protect these areas. Thus, research aimed to delimit, characterize and evaluate the vegetation coverage of APPs (riparian forest) of water resources in the micro basin of the Nazaré stream, in Rondônia. For delimitation of the micro basin was used QGIS software (version 3.16.8), using a Digital Elevation Model (DEM) with a spatial resolution of 12.5 m, and the APPs with the application of buffers, according to the limits defined by the Forest Code (Law 12.651 / 2012). For the characterization and evaluation of vegetation cover in APPs, the Normalized Difference Vegetation Index (NDVI) technique was applied, this index ranges from -1 to 1, values less than zero represent non-vegetable areas and those closest to 1 with dense vegetation. From the delimitation of APPs, it was observed that an area covered by APPs is about 9.21 km², approximately 10.2% of the total area of the micro basin. The NDVI values found in APPs ranged from -0.152 to 0.535, indicating that some type of vegetation covers the area, since most of the selected values were positive. The predominance of vegetation cover is of the thin type, which covers about 38.64% of the APPs existing in the micro basin.
