Abstract

This article presents a literary literacy proposal for deaf students. With the aim of reporting the experience of literary literacy in the Portuguese language through storytelling in Libras as ways to include students in times of a pandemic. With a theoretical basis on a brief reflection on literary literacy for the formation of the deaf reader, based on the authors Candido (1995) and Cosson (2016), seeking to understand the impacts of the Pandemic and the distance of the deaf child in school. based on the authors QUADROS (2005) and STROBEL (2009). The methodology reports a reality experienced by academics at PIBID (Institutional Scholarship Program for Teaching Initiation), in the year 2020, in an atypical moment experienced by the COVID-19 pandemic, with literary literacy and storytelling in Libras . The research aims to answer the following question: "How can we think of inclusive scenarios for deaf children to achieve the same performance as other children in literary literacy in a pandemic time?". As a result, we identified that literary literacy through storytelling in Libras available on Youtube is an important proposal so that deaf children can acquire both L1 and L2, with L1 being Libras and L2 being Portuguese, in which teachers can equip themselves with theoretical and practical elements from the perspective of bilingual education. Thinking from a perspective of Multiliteracy Pedagogy as a barrier breaking for a process where the deaf student will interact with everyday situations through the social use of reading and writing in Portuguese.
