The anthropocentric relationship of man with the environment, over the years, has culminated with the development of postmodern capitalist society and its unprecedented ecological consequences. The present article aims to deepen the discussions about the alienation of consumption and the consumer in the era of disposable goods, the socio-environmental consequences of the man versus nature relationship in postmodern society, the challenges of sustainable development as an alternative to overcome such issues within the current economic development model, and to present ecological sustainability, deep ecology and ecological literacy as possible paths to a re-identification of man with nature, opening the way for a buen vivir perspective. The bibliographical research was used, aiming at the theoretical deepening of the theme.
