PILGRIMAGE OF OXCARTS OF THE FEAST OF THE DIVINE ETERNAL FATHER: THE JOURNEYS FROM MORRINHOS AND VIANÓPOLIS TO TRINDADE, GOIÁS, BRAZIL

This manuscript has the central objective of understanding the ox cart journeys of pilgrims from Morrinhos and Vianópolis to Trindade, Goiás, Brazil, with the purpose of participating in Festa do Divino Pai Eterno. The spatial scope of this article includes the municipalities of Trindade (GO), located in the intermediate and immediate geographic regions of Goiânia (GO); Vianópolis (GO), intermediate from Goiânia (GO) and immediate from Anápolis; and Morrinhos (GO), intermediate Itumbiara (GO) and immediate Caldas Novas-Morrinhos (GO). This is an essentially qualitative work, using semi-structured interviews as instruments for collecting data, surveying references and analyzing results. In bibliographical research, authors such as Coriolano (1999), Seabra (2007), D’Abadia (2014), Marques and Santos (2014), Silva, Matias and Pintassilgo (2014), Chaveiro, Azevedo and Gonçalves (2018), Garófalo and Pinho (2018) and Enoque and Almeida (2021) were fundamental to the theoretical construction of the investigation. Among the presented results, the understanding of pilgrims/carreiros regarding their own travel conditions stands out, as well as the exercise of faith: landing, meals, voluntary and financial support and the importance of ox carts for travel collective. Finally, the exposed contents list some possibilities for future studies, such as further deepening the female role in travel and the relevance of understanding the value of travelers’ memories, to demonstrate that the theme “religious travel” deserves other and new investigative approaches.
