HISTORY AND MEMORY: A STUDY ON IDEAS, THOUGHTS, PROJECTS AND ACHIEVEMENTS OF PROF. DR. DOROSNIL ALVES MOREIRA, IN GUAJARÁ-MIRIM (RO), ON THE BRAZIL/BOLIVIA BORDER

Abstract

This work presents results of research into aspects of Prof. Dr. Dorosnil Alves Moreira, highlighting the ideas, thoughts and projects carried out in the period from 1983 to 2023, in the educational, political and sociocultural fields, in the municipality of Guajará-Mirim/RO. The research is part of the field of Education, focusing on History and Memory, and was guided by the following question: how did Prof. Did Dr. Dorosnil Alves Moreira contribute to the educational, political and sociocultural development of Guajará-Mirim/RO, a municipality located on the Brazil/Bolivia border? The study of this topic is justified because there are still few records about the implementation of Higher Education in Guajará-Mirim/RO and it is necessary to record the history and memory of the historical personalities of the municipality of Guajará-Mirim (RO), to promote the recognition and appreciation of these personalities. The research, of a bibliographic and documentary type, with a qualitative approach, and using the analytical descriptive method, was developed from March to June/2025. In collecting and analyzing data, we resorted to studies of history and memory and used the following technical procedures: informal and formal conversations; participant observation and open narrative interviews, based on memory reconstruction, with previously defined themes.The research, of a bibliographic and documentary type, with a qualitative approach, and using the analytical descriptive method, was developed from March to June/2025. In collecting and analyzing data, we resorted to studies of history and memory and used the following technical procedures: informal and formal conversations; participant observation and open narrative interviews, based on memory reconstruction, with previously defined themes. The research was based on the studies of the following authors: Gil (2023) and Guerra (2014) and the theoretical-methodological assumptions of History and memory, based on the studies of: Halbwachs (2003); Borges (2009); Nora (1993); Avelar (2010) Silva (2009), Moreira (2007); Moreira (2021), among others. The research results showed that Prof. Dr. Dorosnil Alves Moreira played important roles in the process of implementing higher education and in the political and sociocultural organization of the municipality of Guajará-Mirim (RO), on the Brazil/Bolivia border.
