ABSTRACT
Abstract: The present article aims to examine the characters and their relationships in the work Seringal, by Miguel Jeronymo Ferrante in line with the performance of the protagonist Toinho who are directed through the strategies of construction of these agents from three basic predicates: desire, communication and participation, as the theorist Todorov approaches. Toinho's actions are directly linked to the characters and space presented in the narrative's composition, succeeding in an untimely denouement. An Amazonian saga that portrays with property the relations of the rubber tapper with the seringal in a land of very specific laws, commanded by Colonel Fábio de Alencar. Methodologically deals with a critical analytical research from the reading of the work Seringal in parallel to the theoretical approaches that discuss the issue. It is primarily based on todorov's conceptions (2001) referring to the grouping of relationships between the characters that results in the meaning produced by each element in the work.
