Abstract

This article analyzes the short story “As duas cobras encantadas”, by indigenous writer Yaguarê Yamã, in the book O caçador de histórias (2004), with an emphasis on the Amazonian and supernatural elements present in the narrative, interpreted in the light of the concept of enchantment, as defined by Paes Loureiro. The analysis addresses the relationship between humans and the enchanted, highlighting how Amazonian cosmology dissolves the boundaries between species and realities. It also examines how the author uses enchantment to construct a literary universe in which the supernatural serves as a means of transmitting ancestral knowledge that is deeply connected to the forest and the river. Finally, it discusses the role of indigenous literature in valuing Amazonian traditions and myths, reaffirming the symbolic and cultural strength of its elements.
