TRANS VISIBILITY IN EDUCATION
A SOCIOLOGICAL ANALYSIS OF TRAVESTIS AND TRANSEXUALS IN THE CITY OF BELO HORIZONTE

Resolution of the Ministry of Education (MEC) approved on January 17, 2018 authorizes the use of the social name of transvestites and transsexuals in school records of basic education. The same seeks to propagate respect and minimize statistics of violence and abandonment of school due to harassment, embarrassment and prejudice. The social name is one in which transvestites, trans women or trans men choose to be called, according to their gender identity. But it is realized that there are still many changes to happen, such as the use of restrooms according to their gender identity. This work advocates the school inclusion of the diversity of transvestites and transsexuals in the school environment, where we can observe the very great dropout of these students in the classes.
