The present work aims to analyze teacher education for the promotion of inclusive education in public schools in the State of Rondônia. This is a qualitative research and was carried out in three public schools of basic education in Rondônia (two in Ji-Paraná and one in Ouro Preto do Oeste). It involved twenty-nine (29) teachers from the first two cycles of elementary school. For the theoretical background, we use the legislation and other official documents that deal with inclusive education, as well as authors of the area. The data showed that teacher training for the promotion of inclusive education in the schools surveyed is deficient, since initial training does not account for training teachers for an inclusive practice, and continuing education, in the form that is operationalized, also leaves to be desired. This worrying scenario indicates the need to develop research and broaden the discussion on the theme, with the objective of contributing to the consolidation of inclusive education in schools.
