Abstract

This article deals with some news that were published in a London newspaper in 1911, when the last phase of construction of the Madeira-Mamoré Railroad took place. They are available on the website Swanseadocks and were translated into Brazilian Portuguese during a course taught in the English-Course at the Federal University of Rondônia. The translation process of such news was conducted by the authors of this text with the participation of some students. The initial objective was to exercise the translation practice and then disseminate these news about daily events in Porto Velho in the final act of the Madeira-Mamoré Railway construction.
