ABSTRACT: This paper discusses some aspects of the novel A Ocupação (2019), by Julián Fuks, taking as theoretical support the bachelardian criticism in the study A poética do espaço (1978). It starts from the reading of the corpus work, considering one of its main narratives focuses, regarding the experiences lived by the narrator, Sebastián, during his occupation in the former Cambridge hotel, in the city of São Paulo. It seeks to understand from his accounts the process of intercultural transmission between the occupants, residents and the collective of social representatives who fight for the right to housing. In this sense, a dialogue is created between the external and internal elements of the bachelardian house, thinking of Cambridge as this housing space, occupied by several languages and resistance stories. Using the bibliographical methodology, based on Gaston Bachelard's phenomenological theory, we propose this analysis to add it to the scientific studies of literary criticism. The results obtained here are designed to make a significant contribution to contemporary literary studies.
