The harmony established between the Karitiana people and their traditional territory can give us a clear idea of the functionality between nature and its system of meanings. The maintenance of its cosmogony is directly linked to the traditional territory and to the various types of animals and plants established on its borders. These specificities demonstrate the very rich magical-religious dynamics, on which the group's connection with nature and its ancestors depends. Currently, the countless farms established around the ethnic living areas, in addition to the various forms of contact with non-indigenous people, they show the contradictions of these relationships and the effects of the surrounding society.
