The text on screen presents a snapshot of the health situation of riverside populations in three communities located in Baixo Madeira, Porto Velho-RO, Brazil. The proposed empirical study used statistical analysis based on empirical data, to address the health-disease process over riverside care, thus privileging a quantitative and qualitative reading of the data, based on a computerized program, which reflected the findings. The use of statistical resources for data analysis shows the methodological complementarity, through the use of the scientific framework, under the focus of the theory of social representations. The reconciliation of the different methods in the processing and analysis of the information collected, are useful in research in human and social sciences, due to the deepening of the data collected. Thus, it was possible to perform a reading of the social reality experienced by the 120 subjects, participants of the study, about the health situation, experienced by the residents of three riverside communities. The findings reveal the precariousness of the actions and services offered amid the needs presented by users of the Public Health System. Traditional and alternative ways of treating and curing health maintenance processes in the researched social group stand out, whose internal relevance prevails, despite the interventions of reified knowledge.Downloads
