Ethnic-racial relations and children: an analysis of ANPED production

Abstract

This study aimed to analyze the scientific production of the Working Group on "Education and Ethnic-racial Relations" from National Association of Postgraduate and Research in Education - ANPED, between the years 2003 to 2013, especially the production focused on education of ethnic-racial relations in the context of childhood education and in the early years of elementary school. We used the theoretical contributions of Abramowicz and Oliveira (2006, 2012), Fazzi (2006), Cavalleiro (2001, 2014), Santiago (2014), Abramowicz (2011), and others. The research, state of the art type, is a bibliographical / documentary investigation. The research analyzed here, we have seen that the academic production of ANPED GT 21 is still not very expressive regarding research with children and ethnic-racial relations, given the total research that has been presented and disclosed in the GT. We saw that of the 161 papers published in GT 21, between 2003 and 2013, only 14 studies is refereed to racial relations between children in early childhood education and the first years of elementary school. However, these works don’t privilege children's point of view in around ethnic-racial relations.
