Wei Paasi’s Poetry: reflections on representation

Abstract

This article's central objective is to analyze the representation of indigenous women and indigenous Venezuelan immigrants in two poems by Sony Ferseck: We invisible women, published in the book Weiyamî Mulheres que faz o sol (2022) and Abandonada, published in the book Movejo ( 2020). In this sense, it uses as a reference the vision on representation adopted by Júlio França (2021) and on the representation of minorities, presented by Regina Dalcastagnè (2007). The analyzes carried out also consider the aspects presented by Antonio Candido (2006) regarding the translation of meaning and expression. In addition to the debate on representation and expression, we will also delve into the perspectives of cultural studies, thus authors such as Krenak (2019) and Bensusan (2022) are present in the discursive basis of this text. According to the characteristics presented, the article has a qualitative approach. After the analyzes carried out, it is possible to infer that Ferseck has constructed fruitful representations in his poetry, highlighting to his readers the importance and urgency of debates on interculturality and affective alliances. The poet also converts the bitterness experienced by Venezuelan immigrants in Boa Vista-RR into verses of empathy and solidarity.
