Madness. Modernity. EpistemeAbstract
In this work I will investigate about the experience of madness defined as a phenomenon determined by the spatial-temporal scaffolding that sustains it, a philosophical analysis based on the work of Michel Foucault. The bibliographic starting point will be the treatment of madness and the paradigmatic figure of the madman made in The History of Madness in the Classical Period, published in 1961. The objective will be to make translucent the passage of the madman in the Renaissance and the journeys that madness will give through Europe at the end of the Middle Ages to become a mental illness at the dawn of modernity. This will be accompanied by the emergence and development of clinical medicine and the health education of populations, a certain conception of life, disease and death. Philosophically under the light of modernity we will see emerge the figure of the subject and with it, the rationality that accompanies it.
